’49ers Enterprises sources share Leeds sale update amid move on Rangers takeover’
49ers Enterprises are showing no signs of making radical changes in terms of the ownership at Leeds, according to The Athletic.
Red Bull were announced as a minority stakeholder in May 2024, taking over as the main shirt sponsor, and sparking fears about the 49ers Enterprises potentially selling the Yorkshire club.
The energy drink brand, who own RB Leipzig in Germany, RB Salzburg in Austria, and MLS side New York Red Bulls, have experienced many highs and lows since joining the family at Elland Road.
Even with their investment, the likes of Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter were sold to dip below the PSR threshold last summer, but Daniel Farke looks to be thriving once again.

Leeds insiders showing no signs of 49ers Enterprises selling
Sources from both Levi’s Stadium and Elland Road told The Athletic [26 February] that there are currently no concerns over any radical changes to Leeds’ ownership.
Paraag Marathe, who is spearheading the San Francisco 49ers’ Rangers takeover, alongside healthcare mogul Andrew Cavenagh, has been a regular presence at games this season, which has been tagged as his continuous commitment to the Whites.
Many supporters have been concerned about Red Bull becoming majority owners at Elland Road, but it seems they are likely to remain as minority stakeholders.
Marathe’s involvement with the 49ers has caused panic over the last few days but it appears that the passionate fanbase has nothing to worry about when it comes to a full takeover.

Daniel Farke’s focus remains on Premier League promotion
Football Insider verdict
The majority of supporters look to be extremely happy with the current hierarchy and investment set-ups at Elland Road, and it is likely to help a lot once the summer transfer window rolls around.
Signing the correct players, once promotion to the Premier League is secured, will be of vital importance if Farke is to keep the club in the top tier of English football.
Championship standings | Points |
1. Leeds | 75 |
2. Sheffield United | 70 |
3. Burnley | 68 |
With the Whites now five points clear at the top of the Championship table, any news of a takeover right now would likely just distract those at Elland Road from the performances on the pitch.
Sheffield United and Burnley will be vying to beat Leeds to the Championship title, but considering the form of Farke’s team, it is difficult to see them tripping up.
