’49ers to bankroll Leeds United signing spree after £120m move’
Leeds United are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window as they look to be competitive in the Premier League next season.
Daniel Farke’s side earned promotion back to the top flight after claiming the Championship title this season.
Football Insider revealed on 7 May Leeds will have a £150million budget in the upcoming transfer window, with majority owner 49ers Enterprises looking to take the club to the next step.
The Athletic reported on 19 May the Yorkshire giants’ owners will issue around £120million of new shares in the club.
It said investors have been told the nine-figure influx will be put towards Elland Road’s redevelopment and the summer transfer window.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the cash injection will help Leeds do deals once the window opens.
Borson previously told Football Insider Leeds could face profit and sustainability (PSR) issues next season after posting a £60.8million loss in 2023-24.
Under the Premier League’s PSR rules, top-flight clubs are allowed to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.

Leeds get £35m boost after new reveal
Borson revealed the latest cash injection will ensure Leeds have the full £35million allowable losses limit next season.
He told Football Insider: “This is just cash.
“It doesn’t help them from a PSR perspective, but it puts the cash into the business that they can spend.
“It means that they can pay the bills and they can pay transfer installments, so that’s why they’re doing that.
“It makes no difference from a PSR perspective. I suppose it makes a difference to the extent that it allows them to have the maximum cap of £35million.
“People forget that actually it shouldn’t be £35million. I think it’s £15million if you don’t pay some money in, but everybody puts money in, so everybody has effectively got £105million.
“But it’s just the cash to do the deals. They have said it themselves that they’re going to spend as much money as they are permitted to spend.
“They recognise if you don’t spend £100-120million you’ve got no chance of staying up.”
