’49ers unmoved on Daniel Farke sack despite previously-unseen Leeds fans actions’
Daniel Farke remains unable to silence the talks around his future as Leeds United manager despite the club’s success and a rousing sign off at Elland Road to end the home season.
Last week, the Whites secured automatic promotion to the Premier League after two campaigns in the Championship under the German.
However, Farke previously had two unsuccessful managerial spells in English football’s top-flight with Norwich City.
As a result, there have been reports that Leeds are planning to replace Farke this summer in an attempt to avoid relegation next season.
So far though, no confirmation has been issued as to whether or not the 48-year-old will be in charge at Elland Road at the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
Indeed, Leeds have even been labelled “disrespectful” for refusing to comment on Farke’s future amid those rumours around him.

49ers won’t u-turn on Farke sack despite Leeds fans’ support
On Monday (28 April), Leeds thrashed Bristol City 4-0 at Elland Road to continue their outstanding recent run of form.
That victory means they will travel to Plymouth Argyle on the final day, knowing a win will guarantee them the Championship title, barring a ridiculous goal-swing in favour of Burnley, and a century of points.
During that win over the Robins, Leeds fans could be heard loudly cheering and signing for Farke, in an apparent show of support for their manager amid that uncertainty around his future.
While working on the game as a pundit for Sky Sports, Michael Bridges noted such audible support of Farke was a first for this season, and gave his view on whether it could help save the former Borussia Monchengladbach boss.
Championship position | Played | Goal Difference | Points |
1. Leeds United | 45 | +64 | 97 |
2. Burnley | 45 | +51 | 97 |
After being asked about those chants from supporters, the former Leeds striker said (10:09pm): “Yeah, that’s the first time actually this season I’ve heard anything like that with Daniel Farke getting his name sung by the fans.
“He acknowledged them as you would do, and obviously everybody knows that he’s the catalyst behind this team.”
But having then been asked if he thought that might influence the thinking of the club’s owners, 49ers Enterprises, for whom Paraag Marathe and others were in attendance at the game, Bridges added (10:11pm): “If they’ve made their mind up already then no.”
Even so, he then note that he does hope if no decision is yet set, that those chants from the crowd would make an impression on the decision makers at Elland Road.
49ers Enterprise may be forced to back their manager
Football Insider Verdict
There is no escaping the fact that it will be a risk for the club to keep Farke at Elland Road for the start of next season.
Given he has struggled at that level in the past with Norwich, there are going to be concerns about whether he will be able to fare any better with Leeds.
If he fails to do so then sticking with him would prove to be a very costly move for the Yorkshire outfit given how much Premier League status means.
Fan power though is immense in football, and it is currently clear these supporters want Farke to be in charge for the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
That will make a change harder to complete for the Leeds owners, since any replacement could also face a challenge in winning over the fanbase, making it harder for them to settle in and deliver results.
With that in mind, it could makes sense for the 49ers to do the same thing as their fanbase and take a chance on backing Farke for next season.
