Aston Villa defender John Terry will miss his side’s clash against Leeds United at Villa Park on Friday night, according to a reliable journalist.

Birmingham Mail reporter Gregg Evans claimed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday that Steve Bruce will be not only be without Terry but also Axel Tuanzebe and Alan Hutton for his side’s upcoming Championship clash.

However even though Terry is set to be out with an ankle injury, as confirmed by the Villains, the Villa manager really should not be concerned about getting one over on Leeds.

Terry, 37, has been in fantastic form for Aston Villa this season and has played a large part in helping the West Midlands club to table a solid bid to earn promotion back to the Premier League.

The Birmingham Mail has previously reported that the ex-England international is earning £4million-a-year at Villa Park after leaving Chelsea at the end of last season and he has so far made 32 appearances in all competitions for the Villains.

Bruce should not have too many worries about his injury though as Paul Heckingbottom’s men are in dire form with just two wins since Boxing Day and are falling down the Championship standings.

They do not have anything to play for and that is perhaps why they are in such a poor run.

Villa know that three points against the Whites should go a long way to securing a spot in the play-offs and even without Terry, they are very much expected to do that.

In other Aston Villa news, the club are likely to table a bid for this international in the form of his life over the summer with his director of football admitted he could leave.
