Jaw-dropping bid to be tabled immediately after Tottenham clash against Chelsea on Sunday - report

By Harry Sykes

Chelsea are set to make a £50million bid for Danny Rose immediately after their game against Tottenham on Sunday, according to a report.

The Sun claim Chelsea will follow up this weekend’s game by tabling a jaw-dropping offer to their bitter London rivals in an attempt to land Rose.

The offer could be lodged just hours after the match, as Chelsea look to beat the clock to sign Rose before the transfer window shuts in a little over two weeks’ time.

Rose opened the door to an exit from White Hart Lane last week after giving an explosive interview in which he criticised Spurs’ wage structure and transfer market approach.

The England international, 27, wants to win trophies and earn wages he believes reflect his value.

Chelsea are now preparing to test Spurs’ resolve, even though Rose is out due to injury until after the international break next month.

Manager Antonio Conte has claimed he is short of players and his squad is in need of strengthening before the 31 August transfer window cut-off.

Rose has been made a top target as the Italian wants a left-wing back to provide competition to Spaniard Marcos Alonso.

Spurs’ left-back is still sidelined as he continues his recovery from knee surgery and will not feature in Tottenham’s Premier League debut at Wembley.

London and title rivals Chelsea visit first, with Sunday’s game (4pm) an early crunch clash in the new season.

In other Tottenham transfer news, the club are to finalise a £45million-valued signing today after terms agreed.
