£70,000-a-wk Tottenham player proves he must be binned in summer with garbage display v WBA

Tottenham attacker Erik Lamela proved against West Brom that he must be binned in the summer transfer window.

Lamela, 26, put in a garbage display in the Black Country as Darren Moore kept his side’s hopes of a saftey alive with a 1-0 win courtesy of Jake Livermore’s stoppage time goal.

The Argentina international barely had any impact in attack and it’s no wonder that Harry Kane was unable to get on the scoresheet at The Hawthorns with the lack of clever play behind him in the attacking midfield.

Mauricio Pochettino has much better options than Lamela, so it’s not even like he would be need replacing in the summer transfer window.

Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura sat out as Pochettino risked Lamela, who has looked so off the boil in the last few months that he has basically dug his own grave by not improving his performances.

The Daily Star has reported that the former Roma attacker is earning £70,000-a-week in North London, a hefty sum for what Daniel Levy would usually pay to his players.

It makes perfect sense to get him off the wagebill in the coming months and maybe redirect those funds elsewhere in the squad or to help strike new deals for those who are bound to attract a lot of attention.

In other Tottenham news, this Spurs centre-back has confirmed that he is open for offers in the summer – but it’s not Toby Alderweireld.
