£75,000-a-wk player axed in four changes: Tottenham best possible XI v Newcastle
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino must make four changes to his side for the game against Newcastle United at Wembley on Wednesday if he wants to field his best possible line-up.
Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose, Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela should all be axed after poor performances in the 1-0 defeat to West Brom on Saturday.
Ben Davies, Eric Dier and Lucas Moura should return to the starting line-up for the clash with Rafa Benitez’s side while Mousa Dembele must also get back in if he has recovered from a knock he picked up last week.
Jan Vertonghen went off in the defeat to the Baggies at the weekend with a twisted ankle and if he is fit, he should definitely stay in the line-up.
Hugo Lloris should keep his spot in goals behind a back-four of Kieran Trippier, Davinson Sanchez, Vertonghen and Davies.

Alderweireld, who according to the Daily Star earns £75,000-a-week, should be dropped from the team after the defeat to West Brom, leading to Pochettino reverting to the back-four system – as long as Vertonghen is fit to start.
Dier and Dembele should partner each other in the deeper-lying midfield positions while ahead of them Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Lucas should get the nod to start in the advanced midfield areas.
Spurs did not create enough at The Hawthorns on Saturday and pushing Eriksen further forward and having Lucas out wide instead of Lamela should have a positive effect.
Harry Kane must continue to start up front in what is a big game for Tottenham as they know a defeat could see them slip out of the top four if Chelsea win against Huddersfield.
