‘A big low’ – Mark Goldbridge slams Man United decision that will lose club millions
Mark Goldbridge has questioned why Manchester United haven’t appealed the EFL’s decision not to kick Grimsby Town out of the Carabao Cup.
Man United were defeated on penalties by Grimsby on Wednesday, 27 August, after playing out a 2-2 draw with the League Two side.
Meanwhile, David Artell’s side used midfielder Clarke Oduor, who was ineligible after being registered one minute too late to play in the fixture.
However, the EFL decided to fine Grimsby on Tuesday, 2 September, rather than expelling the League Two side from the Carabao Cup.

After being beaten by Grimsby, Man United bounced back by winning 3-2 against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday, 30 August.
However, supporters are still disappointed by their premature Carabao Cup exit at the hands of fourth-tier opponents.
Taking to X on Tuesday, 8 September, The United Stand’s Goldbridge said: “Surprising United aren’t appealing that Grimsby illegal player thing.
“Morally yeah, it’s a big low but we’re broke. Being back in that tournament could be worth millions.”

Furthermore, Amorim successfully facilitated the departures of Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and Marcus Rashford.
