'He’s totally different' - Brendan Rodgers reveals unexpected side of key Celtic performer
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that captain Scott Brown’s off the pitch persona is completely different from that which he displays on the pitch.
Brown is known as a combative, fiery, aggressive player when he performs for the Hoops, but Rodgers has proclaimed that he is “different personality” when he is off the pitch.
“Scott’s a selfless man. He gets a wee bit of stick from rival supporters but it’s because he’s so good. And away from football, he’s a caring person. He’s a different personality off the field” Rodgers said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“You can speak to guys who have come here, such as Jonny Hayes. He had a perception of Scott from the outside but he’s totally different behind the scenes.”
Brown has been a key player for the Hoops in his decade with the club, winning a total of 14 major honours so far, and leading the Hoops to six consecutive league titles, with a seventh all but guaranteed.
His loyalty to the club has been rewarded with a testimonial, which will take place on the 20th of May against the Republic of Ireland.

It’s not much of a surprise that Brown is completely different off the pitch, as he has responsibilities which come with being the captain of the club. He seems to revel in the role of leader both off and on the pitch, and whilst he is still able to play at a high enough level that won’t be changing any time soon. Brown is Rodgers’ eyes and ears on the park, he often is the man that will relay instructions from the Hoops manager to his team-mates, like he did in the recent win over Rangers at Ibrox. It is a partnership which has been a great success so far and Hoop fans will be hoping it continues for a few more years yet.
