‘A deal could be done for £30m + add-ons’ – Everton source has ‘huge’ transfer news

Everton could agree an exciting £30million deal in the coming weeks as they prepare for the new Premier League season.

The Merseyside club began the summer by making Charly Alcaraz’s loan permanent, and also brought in striker Thierno Barry from Villarreal.

In addition, Everton have confirmed the signing of Mark Travers from Bournemouth, as well as adding Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich.

Now, David Moyes’ side could be set to bring in their fifth signing of the summer, as they have reportedly made a bid for Lyon winger Malick Fofana.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that his old side could wrap up the Fofana deal for around £30m.

‘Everton to take advantage of Lyon’s financial problems’

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Everton can take advantage of Lyon’s financial situation to bring in Fofana.

The French side were demoted to Ligue 2 due to huge debts, but recently won an appeal to be reinstated into Ligue 1.

Wyness added that Fofana is an exciting winger, and that the deal is now likely to get done.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’m hearing that the offer is going to be around about £30m from Everton.

Lyon do need the money as such. He’s an exciting winger. Everton are linked with a few wingers just now, and so Moyes is keen on improving that position.

“I think that a deal could be done for £30m plus add-ons. I think that sort of level. He’s young, talented, and he’s only 20, so has a long way to go yet. He’d be one that can get done because of the financial situation that Lyon are in. They’ve shown that they are active in the market in terms of disposals.

Although Textor has given up control, there’s still a huge reservoir of talent that Textor controls in Botafogo and other areas. So they obviously feel they can replace people and players quite well.

“I think the deal could get done, which would be huge, and that would be another one to add. With Everton, we’re looking at another eight or so to go yet. So plenty of stories to go and lots to keep the photographer busy, hopefully with the players in the new kit.”

Leicester City receive bid for Coady

Meanwhile, Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Wrexham have submitted a £2m bid for Leicester City defender Conor Coady.

The Welsh side are preparing for their first ever campaign in the Championship and are looking to add experience to their defensive ranks.

Leicester are willing to let Coady leave this summer, after they were relegated from the Premier League last season.

The 32-year-old only has 12 months left on his current deal with the Foxes and has also been the subject of strong interest from Rangers, who have offered him terms this summer.
