Paul Robinson has been hugely impressed with the start new recruit Valentino Lazaro has made to his Newcastle United career.
The former Leeds United and Spurs keeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed the 23-year-old has proven “a really good signing” by Steve Bruce.
Lazaro scored his first goal on what was only his fourth appearance for the Magpies as they survived a late West Brom rally to win 3-2 at the Hawthorns in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Almiron set Steve Bruce’s side on their way with two first-half strikes. The visitors appeared to be in control when the right-wing back added a third but goals from Matt Phillips and Kenneth Zohore ensured a nervy finish.
When asked for his assessment of the January signing’s start to life on Tyneside, Robinson told Football Insider: “A really good signing.
“It is only his fourth game and he has got a goal. He got the red against Palace but he looks like a good signing and he has hit the ground running.
“He showed last night his capabilities to get up and down, not just defensively but going forward. He was playing slightly higher up last night and got his goal.
“Lazaro does not look like a player who will take time to settle, he has hit the ground running.”
The Austria international signed on loan until the end of the season from Italian giants Inter Milan having failed to establish himself in Antonio Conte’s team following his summer move from Hertha Berlin.
The versatile midfielder missed Saturday’s stalemate at home to Burnley after being sent off in the 95th minute against Crystal Palace a week prior.
