Aaron Cresswell sends emotional reaction to poignant West Ham tribute
Aaron Cresswell has shared an emotional message on social media, in reaction to a farewell video posted by West Ham.
The defender played 60 minutes as the Hammers were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest, in what was their last home game of the season.
Goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Nikola Milenkovic put the visitors two goals in front, and a late Jarrod Bowen volley couldn’t help spark a comeback for the East London side.
The result means that Graham Potter’s side can only finish 14th in the Premier League at the very best, and they could potentially end the campaign as low as 17th.
With Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton already relegated, West Ham have little left to play for, and they have now won just one of their last ten league games.

Cresswell says farewell
It was announced last week that Cresswell will leave West Ham at the end of the season, after 11 years at the club.
The full-back has made 367 appearances for the Hammers, featuring 17 times in the Premier League over the course of the 2024/25 campaign.
Games | Goals | Assists | Yellow Cards | Red Cards |
17 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 0 |
To commemorate the 35-year-old’s final home appearance, the club posted a video zooming into Cresswell’s shirt, with the caption: “For one last time at London Stadium.”
On his story, the Englishman reposted the video, along with a ‘teary-eyed’ emoji, heart, and hammers emoji.

West Ham to rebuild after disappointing campaign
Football Insider Verdict
Along with Cresswell, three other senior players will leave West Ham in the summer, at the expiration of their contracts.
Danny Ings, Vladimir Coufal and Lukasz Fabianski join the left-back in departing the club at the end of the season, as the Hammers look to rebuild their squad.
It has been a far from successful campaign for the London-based side, who started slowly with Julen Lopotegui at the helm.
The 58-year-old was sacked in Janurary, and the club appointed Potter to try and inject some life into the squad, but his tenure has been underwhelming so far.
Admittedly, he still hasn’t yet had a full transfer window to bring in players, but with West Ham planning a huge overhaul this summer, the English manager must start next season well to save his job.
If he doesn’t Potter could find himself under pressure before too long.
