Aaron Ramsdale responds to England message after Thomas Tuchel snub
Aaron Ramsdale was sent a birthday message by England’s social media team despite his slide down pecking order under Thomas Tuchel.
Ramsdale has had a season to forget since he left Arsenal for Southampton in a £30million move last August, and Saints were relegated faster than any team in Premier League history with just 12 points won.
As a result, Ramsdale is one of several players expected to leave as the fire-sale begins at St. Mary’s, and Football Insider revealed last month that his Southampton contract includes a £25m release clause.
Premier League clubs aplenty such as Bournemouth, West Ham and newly-promoted Leeds have all declared interest in the 27-year-old, who will be keen to move and keep his international dreams alive.

Ramsdale reacts to England message ahead of internationals
Although Ramsdale has shipped goals at will with Southampton this season with just three clean sheets kept and 62 scored past him, he’s still in Thomas Tuchel‘s ahead of England’s summer internationals.
England face Andorra in a World Cup qualifier and a friendly with Senegal this June, and after he was overtaken in Tuchel’s ranks by Burnley’s James Trafford, Ramsdale will be keen to prove his worth.
Player | Appearances | Clean Sheets | Goals Conceded | Yellow/Red Cards |
Aaron Ramsdale | 30 | 4 | 64 | 2 |
Ramsdale will hope to seize the initiative of his expected Southampton exit to put himself in the shop window, and after he turned 27 on Wednesday (13 May), England’s social media team shared a post.
England‘s official Instagram page posted to say; “Happy birthday to Three Lions goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale!”, to which the Saints shot-stopper said on his own story: “Thanks team”.

Ramsdale needs right transfer to re-claim England place
Sat fourth in the England ranks behind Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson and a Championship keeper in the form of Trafford, Ramsdale will be keen to make the move to an upwardly-mobile club this summer.
Trafford could be set to avoid a relegation battle next term with a big-money move to Newcastle on the cards, and Ramsdale will hope he can prevent a fourth demotion ending up on his CV in 12 months’ time.
Football Insider have revealed that West Ham see Ramsdale as an “upgrade” on their current options between the sticks, and this could be the perfect fit for the 27-year-old despite a reluctance from fans to buy from Southampton.
