Aaron Ramsdale sends message as late Wolves agreement reached
Newcastle goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has reacted to a new transfer between Wolves and his parent club Southampton.
Ramsdale has struggled for consistent game time at St James’ Park following a summer loan move from Southampton.
He joined the Saints from Arsenal for around £25million in 2024, and featured in 30 Premier League games as they were relegated back to the Championship in 20th place.
Newcastle then signed Ramsdale last August on loan, with an option to buy, but he has made just 12 appearances in four different competitions under Eddie Howe this season.
The 27-year-old has largely been stuck behind Nick Pope, and he looks set to return to St Mary’s in the summer, but will not be playing alongside Adam Armstrong after his move to Molineux.

Aaron Ramsdale has reacted to Armstrong’s Southampton farewell
Ramsdale was linked to Wolves in 2024 before joining Southampton, but they were priced out of a move and instead signed Sam Johnstone.
The England keeper is also a boyhood fan of their arch-rivals, West Brom, and has been known to try to wind up Wolves fans during his time at Arsenal.
Southampton have struggled in the Championship this season following his loan exit, and they are currently seven points off the playoffs in 14th place.
Their top scorer Adam Armstrong was linked with a move to Wolves ahead of Monday’s deadline, and he completed the move to Rob Edwards’ side just hours before the end of the window.
The 28-year-old took to Instagram with an emotional goodbye message to Saints fans after the move was confirmed, and Ramsdale reacted to his former teammate’s post with a reply that said: “Adam”, with a red heart emoji.
Armstrong’s Premier League record compared to his Championship record
Armstrong has scored goals for fun in the second tier at Southampton over the last few years, but has never truly proven himself in the top-flight in his career so far.
He came through the ranks and started his senior career at Newcastle, but failed to ever score for his boyhood club in 21 appearances, amid numerous loan spells in the EFL.
| League | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Premier League | 88 | 6 | 7 |
| Championship | 277 | 91 | 37 |
Armstrong made a permanent move to Blackburn in 2018 after helping them to promotion from League One, and scored 58 goals in 151 Championship games for the Ewood Park club over the next three seasons.
He struggled to make the step back up to the Premier League after joining Southampton in 2021, but again shone in the second tier in 2023-24, with 21 league strikes, and has done the same this time around.
