Aaron Ramsdale sends ‘monumental’ message to Bournemouth star who doesn’t ‘get the credit he deserves’
Newcastle United’s Aaron Ramsdale has sent an extremely proud message to a former Bournemouth teammate.
Ramsdale joined Newcastle on loan from Southampton this summer, with the goalkeeper jumping ship after the Saints’ relegation back down to the Championship.
The 27-year-old shot-stopper has experienced spells with Arsenal, Sheffield United, and the Cherries, and the third spell, which only lasted a season, is where the connection was forged.
Andoni Iraola‘s side are currently sitting seventh in the Premier League table after three matches, and after Bournemouth beat Tottenham 1-0 before the international break, Brighton are their next opponents.

David Brooks signs a new contract at Bournemouth
The Cherries head into the game off the back of some very exciting news. David Brooks has put pen to paper on a new deal at the Vitality Stadium, seeing him stay until the summer of 2029.
Taking to Instagram stories (11 September), Ramsdale wrote: “Won’t get the credit he deserves, but this is monumental from where you have been. Proud of you, bud,” with a love heart emoji.

The 28-year-old Wales international has overcome some serious hurdles, not least recovering from a serious cancer diagnosis, before making an incredible return to the pitch for club and country.
What has David Brooks said about his new deal?
Speaking to Bournemouth‘s media team (11 September), Brooks said: “I’m delighted to sign a new deal. The past seven years have come with some ups and downs, of course, nothing to do with the club.
“But I’ve really enjoyed being here and I’m looking forward to the years ahead. I think my standout moment so far has to be making my Premier League debut.”
While last season’s stats appear underwhelming, notching two goals and two assists in 33 appearances, he was instrumental to the Cherries’ build-up play and is still getting back to his best on the pitch.
He has already kick-started the 2025-26 campaign with an assist, albeit it came during the 4-2 defeat to Liverpool, but he has shown plenty of promise and deserves his new deal at the Vitality.
