Abdoulaye Doucoure responds as Everton share Seamus Coleman message
Abdoulaye Doucoure has responded to a message shared by Everton celebrating Seamus Coleman’s new contract.
The right-back famously joined the Toffees for just £60,000 back in 2009, and has gone on to make over 420 appearances for the Merseyside Club.
On Friday, 27 June, Coleman signed a contract extending his Everton stay to 17 seasons, and will look forward to representing the Blues at their new Hill Dickinson stadium.
Meanwhile, Doucoure is leaving the Toffees as a free agent this summer, having spent five seasons with the Toffees since joining from Watford in 2020.

Doucoure delivers one-word tribute as Coleman signs new Everton deal
Coleman made just six appearances for Everton last season, having previously been a key player for the Toffees.
But after signing a new deal, the Ireland international still boasts a wealth of Premier League experience, which could prove key for David Moyes’ men as they adapt to life following their emotional Goodison Park departure.
Taking to X to celebrate Coleman’s fresh one-year contract, Everton posted on Friday, 27 June: “A new era with our leader” alongside a video of some of his finest moments for the Merseyside outfit.
A day later, Doucoure commented: “Legend” next to a blue heart emoji.
James McAtee would be a Doucoure upgrade for Moyes
Doucoure’s Everton departure has symbolised an altogether new chapter for the Toffees, albeit one being driven by the familiar face of Moyes.

The 32-year-old served the Blues incredibly well during a time in which the Merseyside club battled financial hardship and points deductions but managed to retain their Premier League status.
Everton fans will never forget when Doucoure scored in a 1-0 win against Bournemouth in May 2023 to ensure that the Toffees avoided relegation to the Championship.
Meanwhile, the Mali international’s departure has left Moyes in need of recruiting a new attacking midfielder ahead of next season.
With that in mind, Everton have been linked with James McAtee, who scored three goals in just 15 Premier League appearances for Manchester City last term.
Doucoure notched the same number of top-flight goals as McAtee last season, even though he had significantly more game time, making 33 league appearances.
Elsewhere, Everton have been tipped to sign Villareal and France Under-21 striker Thierno Barry in a Goodison News exclusive.
