Abdoulaye Doucoure wows, Ashley Young dreadful – Everton ratings v Man United

David Moyes will feel extremely deflated after Everton threw away a two-goal lead against Man United on Saturday.

Beto continued his incredible form in the final third, opening the scoring, before Abdoulaye Doucoure doubled the Toffees’ lead after just 33 minutes at Goodison Park on 22 February.

The pressure began mounting on Ruben Amorim, with some Man United fans already calling for him to be sacked, but late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte helped salvage a point.

The Toffees could have sealed all three points if not for a rather controversial decision in the dying embers of the game, with referee Andrew Madley overturning a penalty decision on Ashley Young.

As expected, the Goodison Park faithful were furious with the incident, with Moyes’ side being forced to settle for just a point in a 2-2 draw after such a bright start to the match.

Jarrad Branthwaite earns rave reviews despite Man United comeback

Here’s how Football Insider rated the performance of each Everton player following their clash with Man United.

Jordan Pickford – 5

Looked calm and composed in between the sticks until Man United’s fight-back in the final 20 minutes. Battled to keep his side in the game, earning a point.

Jake O’Brien – 4

Struggled up against Patrick Dorgu, picking up an early yellow card and was forced to walk a tightrope for the rest of the game.

Everton have climbed the table under David Moyes.

James Tarkowski – 5

Outshone by his defensive partner, being beaten in the air and on the ground on far too many occasions. Everton needed a louder voice when the United comeback started.

Jarrad Branthwaite – 7

Rock-solid for Moyes at the back, completing all necessary tackles and aerial battles at Goodison Park, and could do little about United’s two goals.

Vitaliy Mykolenko – 5

Gave the Man United attack no time to breathe, moving into the midfield to close any pockets when called upon. Maybe slightly too chaotic for the Ukrainian.

James Garner (Off for Tim Iroegbunam 81′) – 6

Was all over the pitch, putting into crunching tackles, which eventually led to the Englishman being cautioned.

Idrissa Gueye – 7

Yet another fine display from the 35-year-old in the middle of the park, ageing like a fine wine for Moyes’ side.

Jesper Lindstrom (Off for Ashley Young 54′) – 3

Everton will be judging whether to make Lindstrom’s stay permanent, but after yet another quiet appearance, a move back to Napoli seems far more likely at the end of the season.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (Off for Carlos Alcaraz 81′) – 9 – Man of the Match

Returning from his red card at the end of Everton versus Liverpool, Doucoure stunned the travelling Man United fans with a goal and an assist at Goodison Park.

Jack Harrison – 7

One of his brightest performances since extending his loan spell from Leeds United. Had the chance to score his first goal of the season but fired straight at Andre Onana.

Beto – 8

Continued his rich vein in front of goal, opening the scoring before putting immense pressure on the Red Devils’ backline for the rest of the match.

Substitutes

Ashley Young (On for Lindstrom 54′) – 2

Gave away a needless free-kick, a situation which eventually led to Bruno Fernandes’ goal. Made the wrong impact from the bench. Should have had a late penalty but his theatrical fall may have contributed to the controversial decision to overturn the call.
