‘Absolute nightmare’ – Chelsea fans slam ‘shocking’ Jorrel Hato after what he did vs Qarabag
Chelsea’s Champions League showdown against Qarabag saw supporters place Jorrel Hato under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
Hato signed for Chelsea from Ajax in the summer transfer window, and the 19-year-old has since played a sporadic role in Enzo Maresca’s plans.
Capable of playing as a left-back or centre-back, Hato has showcased his versatility this term and was selected by Maresca for Chelsea’s clash against Qarabag.
The teenager was deployed alongside Tosin Adarabioyo in central defence, but on a night when the Dutchman needed to stake a claim for a starting spot, he unfortunately did the opposite.

Chelsea fans react to Jorrel Hato’s disasterclass vs Qarabag
Shortly after Estevao gave Chelsea the lead with a smart finish, the visitors saw their early work undone by a Qarabag equaliser, and Hato was at fault.
The Netherlands international was outmuscled and outpaced by Camilo Duran in the right channel, who struck the post with his strike before Leandro Andrade converted the rebound.
Hato’s night then went from bad to worse when a cross from the right struck his arm in the box, resulting in a penalty that was dispatched by Marko Jankovic.
Reacting to his terrible display on X, one supporter wrote: “My boy Jorrel Hato is having an absolute stinker of a game. First mistake from him leads to the equaliser now he’s giving a pen away for the second goal! Get it together bro.”
“Hato has been awful. Really awful,” someone else stated while a third said: “Hato is living in a nightmare.”

Hato is terrible 😞
Hato shouldn’t be used at centre-back
Hato’s confidence will be shot after making them two mistakes, even if the second was unfortunate to result in a penalty.
But one thing is for certain, the former Ajax starlet isn’t physically ready to be deployed as a centre-back.
He struggled to live with the physically of Qarabag’s attack, and he was caught out with the speed of Duran for the first goal.
That is why Maresca must realise that Hato should be used as Marc Cucurella’s backup instead of in central defence.
