‘Absolute shadow’ – West Ham fans deeply concerned by Jarrod Bowen scenes vs Bournemouth

West Ham supporters have raised concerning questions over Jarrod Bowen after a goalless draw against Bournemouth on Saturday.

While the 29-year-old has four goal contributions in his last four games, many have noticed some strange performances from the club captain, and that was no different on 21 February.

Crysencio Summerville has emerged as the Hammers hero in recent weeks, with Bowen taking a backseat in terms of importance, and his lack of confidence was evident against the Cherries.

Nobody could make the key difference against the Cherries, however, with the game ending goalless, even with Bowen steaming in at the back post and having the final kick of the 90 minutes.

Jarrod Bowen ‘stinks out’ the London Stadium vs Bournemouth

Labelled as an “absolute shadow” of the player he used to be, some were even calling for Bowen to be substituted during the half-time break, with Adama Traore waiting patiently on the bench.

Another supporter said that he was “stinking the place out,” as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side struggled to break down their opponents at home, and he only became more invisible.

With the Hammers two points inside the relegation zone, now is the time for Nuno’s best players to stand up and be counted, but Bowen just didn’t turn up in East London.

West Ham captain’s stats speak for themselves at the London Stadium

Bowen certainly struggled to get into the game.

In 90 minutes, he completed just 54 per cent of his passes, failed to register a shot on target, was dispossessed twice, completed 40 per cent of his dribbles and lost 57 per cent of his ground duels [FotMob].

His five chances created do tell a different story, of course, but the England international was overly wasteful in the final third, far more than usual. It was slightly concerning.

A point against the Cherries, who are aiming for the European spots, should not be seen as a negative, but with West Ham two points from safety, it could have been so much better.

With both Liverpool and Man City on the horizon, it is not going to get any easier for the Hammers, so Bowen needs to put the game behind him and step up.
