‘Absolutely awful’, ‘Listen, lads’ – Rangers fans react to Todd Cantwell display in 2-2 Copenhagen clash

Rangers fans have hammered Todd Cantwell for his “awful” performance in a friendly against Copenhagen on Tuesday night (16 January).

The Gers were pegged back twice by the Danish giants at Ibrox in the 2-2 draw, with goals coming from Rabbi Matondo in the 14th minute and Cyriel Dessers in the 76th.

Cantwell had a night to forget and was widely criticised by the fanbase for his careless play on the ball and lack of creativity.

The 25-year-old started the friendly on home soil but was hauled off in the 64th minute for Nicolas Raskin.

Rangers struggled to create many clear-cut chances for the forwards and fans have singled out the former Norwich man, who is generally considered their biggest creative threat.

Philippe Clement has not had a reassuring winter break with the underwhelming draw against Copenhagen following the 1-0 defeat against Hertha Berlin on Saturday (13 January).

He would have expected more from Cantwell, but many fans are starting to feel he will not have the impact this season that he has in previous campaigns after his latest “wasteful” outing.

Supporters have taken to social media in response to his display, and some claim Clement needs to make the brave decision to drop him.
