Liverpool winger Ryan Kent would be absolutely perfect for Leeds United this summer after his dazzling performances on loan at Rangers, according to Noel Whelan.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-striker explained how he is an admirer of the 22-year-old, who was one of Steven Gerrard’s top performers in Scotland during his temporary spell at Ibrox last season.

As exclusively revealed by Football Insider Leeds have made contact with the Premier League giants and Champions League winners over a move to Elland Road and Whelan, who admitted he was in awe of the winger’s talents, said he would be a perfect fit.

Asked if he was exactly what Leeds need this summer, Whelan told Football Insider: “He is, yeah. I’m really impressed with him at Rangers last season, hence why Steven Gerrard brought him in there, because he knows he’s a very good player.

“Fantastic feet, great turn of pace, got a trick in him and definitely got goals in him and assists. I saw him when he was on Barnsley and what a great talent he was playing for them. If we did get him, absolutely fantastic.

“(He’s) the sort of player we need at Leeds United, it would be fantastic to see him in the white shirt. That sort of player at Leeds would excite the fans. The style that we play, especially from wide areas, he’d fit right in.”

Kent made 43 appearances for Rangers last season and was a constant threat for Gerrard’s side, scoring six goals and chipping in with a further nine assists, while he has one first team appearance under his belt for parent side Liverpool.
