‘Absolutely insane’ – Newcastle fans in utter disbelief at what Lewis Hall did vs Man United

Newcastle United supporters were left rubbing their eyes following an incredible moment of magic from Lewis Hall against Man United.

Eddie Howe had been without Hall for some of the campaign, as has been the case with Tino Livramento, leaving the boss to play some of his squad out of position at St James’ Park.

Due to the injuries, Dan Burn has emerged as an England-level player, at least according to Thomas Tuchel, with the defender able to deputise at centre-back and full-back.

Howe is now without Burn due to injury, as the cycle continues for the Magpies this season, with Lewis Miley chosen to occupy the spot on the opposite side of the field to Hall.

Lewis Hall goes on an incredibly maze-like run vs Man United

In the 12th minute, with very few options around him, the 21-year-old full-back decided to take on the Red Devils himself, charging through midfield, arriving on the edge of the penalty area.

Although Newcastle were unable to make the most of Hall’s “absolutely insane” run, it did not go unnoticed, as one supporter “stood up and applauded” the full-back’s talent.

Chelsea fans also flocked to social media, in complete awe of their academy product, but multiple Newcastle fans were frustrated by the lack of coverage from commentators on the moment.

Hall’s performance by numbers at Old Trafford

When he’s fit, Hall is one of the first names on the teamsheet, and as one of their best players at Old Trafford, he showed the world why he is so highly rated in the Premier League.

In his 90 minutes on the pitch, he created a chance, unleashed three shots, completed 86 per cent of his attempted dribbles, made seven recoveries, and also won 83 per cent of his ground duels [FotMob].

The 21-year-old was absolutely everywhere on the night, making Man United‘s life hell in their own stadium, and may even have been unlucky not to come away with a goal contribution.

At such a young age, it is not out of this world to imagine him earning a move elsewhere in the Premier League, much like Livramento being linked to the likes of Man City.

He is clearly so much more than just a full-back, and Howe needs to use him like that if he is to reach his true potential.
