Darren Bent has hailed the behind-the-scenes impact of Gareth Bale on the Tottenham squad.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Tottenham and England striker said the Welshman’s return had already raised the game of Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane before his second debut.
Bale came on in the 72nd minute against West Ham on Sunday with his side hoping to see out a 3-0 victory.
The Hammers launched a dramatic comeback and scored three times in the last 10 minutes to secure a dramatic point.
The 31-year-old had a golden chance to win the game for Spurs with the scores at 3-2 but blasted wide.
Asked by Football Insider what he made of Bale’s impact, Bent said: “It’s absolutely massive for everyone involved.
“I was sure he would feature in some capacity. He’s fit and ready to go.
“It’s exciting, for me, the moment he came in the building it gave everyone a lift.
“We look at Son’s performances since Bale has come in, you look at Harry Kane’s performances, he’s been outstanding as well.
“Spurs as a whole, that 6-1 victory over Manchester United was absolutely superb.
“He’s given everyone a lift and I hope we see 70-80% of the Bale we know, I know we’re not going to see that Bale from the San Siro with that blistering pace but the fact that he’s back and he’s featuring is huge.”
Son and Kane have scored 12 goals and provided nine assists in the Premier League between them this season.
The pair were involved in all of the Lilywhites’ goals against the Hammers at the weekend with Son setting up Kane for the opening goal with the England captain returning the favour for the second.
