Paul Robinson claimed Yannick Bolasie will be a “new signing” for Carlo Ancelotti when the winger returns to Everton this summer.

The former Spurs goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, compared the winger to ex-teammate Wilfried Zaha and believes the Goodison Park manager will give the 30-year-old until Christmas to prove himself.

Bolasie has spent the past season on loan at Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon where he has scored twice in 25 appearances.

The winger has struggled to establish himself at Goodison Park following his £25million move from Crystal Palace in August 2016 and is out of contract this summer.

When asked if the DR Congo international may be given a short-term deal to reignite his career on Merseyside, Robinson told Football Insider: “Absolutely. When Ancelotti came in there was no recall but it must have been a season-long loan.

“But the way that Ancelotti has behaved with the rest of his players – not signing anybody in January and giving everybody their chance – I think he will see Bolasie as a new signing. Ancelotti has given the other players until the end of the season so I suspect Bolasie will get until Christmas if not longer if he performs.

“He is a top player. You saw the way he was at Palace. I do think a manager like Ancelotti can get the best out of Bolasie because sometimes talent is different from attitude and application. He was held in as high regard as Zaha whilst at Palace – top player.”

Bolasie has also been sent out on loan to Aston Villa and Anderlecht since joining the Toffees.

In other Everton news, Danny Mills has told Football Insider Serie A centre-half is “an absolute definite” this summer.
