Adam Aznou: Everton’s forgotten man takes social media action as isolation continues

Adam Aznou has removed all mention of Everton from his social media profile as he continues to be left out of the team.

The defender arrived from Bayern Munich in the summer, signing a four-year contract in a deal worth around £8million.

The 19-year-old has impressed in his brief appearances for the German giants, but was keen to gain a more prominent role elsewhere.

Aznou has not found that at Hill Dickinson Stadium, however, with the Morocco international having made just one appearance all season.

Everton’s transfer plans are likely to include another full-back in the summer, as they look to prepare for the impending departure of Seamus Coleman.

Adam Aznou frustrations continue despite strong Sunderland display

Aznou impressed against Sunderland when he came on in January’s FA Cup penalty defeat for his Everton debut.

The 19-year-old was brave in the duel and a constant pain for the right side of the Black Cats’ defence.

With the Toffees needing a goal to equalise in the dying minutes, the Morocco international drove into the box and showed great hunger to block NBordi Mukiele’s attempted clearance.

Aznou then got up and, with great footwork, drew a penalty from the challenge of Trai Hume, allowing James Garner to equalise from the spot.

The Morocco international was so impressive off the bench, making it all the more surprising that he has not been spotted since.

Even with Vitaliy Mykolenko lacking a natural replacement, David Moyes has continued to ignore Aznou.

In his latest move to express his frustration at the situation, the defender has deleted all mention of Everton on his Instagram profile.

What David Moyes has said about Aznou

If Aznou’s situation continues as it currently is, it would be a shock to see the defender remain at Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.

Fans have speculated that there is a problem between Moyes and the 19-year-old behind the scenes, but the Scot has spoken well about him publicly.

“I was really pleased with Adam,” he said after the game against Sunderland. “He is a great boy, he’s got bits about him that are ready.

“It is just that physically to be a left back in the Premier League, that is where we are needing him to develop.”

But there remains a question on everybody’s lips – how does Moyes expect a player to develop if he is never given a chance?

Whether it is stubbornness or something that really has gone on behind the scenes, Everton look set to lose a talented player in the summer.
