Adam Idah ‘very keen’ to sign for Celtic as new Norwich details emerge

Adam Idah is a target for Celtic this summer, with Brendan Rodgers wanting him back, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider journalist and Scottish expert Daniel Bowers, speaking to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, explained that Idah is “very keen” to rejoin Celtic this summer but there are stumbling blocks to overcome.

While the Hoops manager publicly stated after the Scottish Cup final that he’d like the forward to return on a full-time deal, he’s not the only manager interested in him.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that new Norwich City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup would also like to look at Idah this summer during pre-season as the club believes there’s a goal scorer in him.

Idah impressed during his loan spell in Scotland last season, making a significant impact during the second half of the season, and the current Celtic squad also wants him back this summer.

A deal could happen in this window, but that will depend on the Canaries allowing him to leave Carrow Road, which is why it’s seen as a “difficult” one to get done.

Celtic are aware of Idah’s potential impact

Considering how impressive Idah was for Celtic last season, signing him is less of a gamble than bringing in an unknown commodity, making is the transfer appealing.

The 23-year-old scored eight goals and provided three assists in the Scottish Premiership last season across 15 games, playing a crucial role in the club winning the league.

Given his eagerness to return to Celtic Park and his familiarity with the team and league well, his ability to settle in wouldn’t be questioned.

However, according to Alan Hutton, Idah’s potential return to the Hoops could spell the end of Hyeon-gyu Oh’s time at the club.

The former Rangers and Scotland defender believes that the two men have a similar presence up front, which could lead to the South Korean international’s sale.

In other news, Celtic could let up to seven players leave this summer.
