Adebayo Akinfenwa: I tried to intimidate this Tottenham ace
By Amir Mir
Adebayo Akinfenwa has revealed that he tried to intimidate Tottenham ace, Dele Alli, while he was playing for MK Dons.
The 34-year-old striker, who is dubbed ‘the world’s strongest footballer’, is set to come up against Spurs for Wycombe in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Akinfenwa has scored ten goals in all competitions this season for his side as he aims to play a part in the Chairboys claiming an unlikely victory against the London-based club.
The powerful forward could potentially come up against midfielder Alli, who played a part in Spurs reaching the fourth-round when they beat Aston Villa to progress to this stage.
Ahead of the contest, Akinfenwa revealed what was said between him and Alli when the youngster played against his Wimbledon team.

“I tried to intimidate him, and he was not intimidated,” Akinfenwa told the Telegraph. “I was like: ‘Look, I know where you have got to go for half-time so I am just going to meet you in the tunnel’. That’s what I said to him. And he was like ‘fine’ I was like ‘OK’.
“But no, he was cool, I did not have a problem with him standing up for himself. I have got so much respect for him and I think he is going to go on and on and on.”
Since his move from the MK Dons during the summer of 2015, Alli has seen his stock rise in the game as one of the most highly-rated players.
He has helped Pochettino’s team secure a Champions League place, won international caps for England and for the second consecutive campaign is helping his club challenge for the title.
Nonetheless, Gareth Ainsworth’s side are unbeaten in their last 16 matches in all competitions and they will be looking towards Akinfenwa to provide that little bit of magic.
But, he will have his work cut out as the Premier League club are yet to be beaten on home soil this term.
