Adomah: Lansbury provides this previously missing piece to the Aston Villa team
By Danny Wright
Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah has said that Henri Lansbury’s ability to play the ball forward has provided something which was previously missing from the team.
Lansbury made his debut for the Midlands giants on Saturday in Villa’s 2-2 with Preston, which saw two Adomah goals cancelled out by a Jordan Hugill double.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the Ghana international believes that Lansbury can only improve as he gets used to his new club.
“I thought it was a wonderful debut from Henri – he played very well indeed,” Adomah said on the official Villa website.
“It was great to play alongside him. You can just see his quality.
“He is very good on the ball and was playing the ball forward, something we have been missing.
“I thought he did very, very well but obviously he wasn’t 100% because he hasn’t played for several weeks – that’s why he had to come off before the end.
“I am sure there’s more to come from him. As he gets to know his team-mates more and his surroundings more, he will show more of his quality.
“We have a bit of time now before our next game. As a professional footballer, you want the next game as soon as possible.
“But, from the perspective of people like Henri, it’s a good thing because he can integrate himself into Aston Villa more.”
Lansbury arrived at Villa Park on Friday after completing a £2.75m move from Nottingham Forest.
The midfielder began his career at Arsenal, and after loan spells at Norwich and West Ham, joined Forest in 2012.
The 26-year-old has had a decent season which has seen him score six times for Forest in 17 appearances, including a hat-trick in a 5-2 win over Barnsley in November.
He is now expected to bring some goals to a team which have struggled going forward this campaign with just 28 goals from their 27 fixtures.
Steve Bruce’s side face Brentford away in the league next in eight days time and Lansbury will look to have another good performance against the Bees.
