Adrian Durham hailed Leeds United fans as “incredible” as he looks forward to welcoming them to the Premier League if they are successful in their promotion pursuit.
The controversial talkSPORT broadcaster made the claim when commenting on journalist Henry Winter’s article in The Times on Tuesday in which he explained why the English top flight needs the Yorkshire giants.
Speaking on talkSPORT (Tuesday April 16th, 18:09), Durham agreed with Winter’s verdict, saying, “Leeds, incredible fanbase and they travel in numbers as well.”
Football Insider verdict:
Winter’s comment piece drew a massive response from Leeds fans across the globe on Tuesday, with them universally hailing it as a “must-read” and “excellent piece”, and many claiming it left them emotional and even misty-eyed. The prospect of one of English football’s most prestigious and historic clubs returning to the top flight after 15 years in the lower leagues is closer than ever following a remarkable transformation under Marcelo Bielsa this season. Leeds are second in the Championship and have a three-point cushion over third-placed Sheffield United with four matches of the campaign remaining. To say United fans are getting excited following a nervy few weeks of up-and-down results is something of an understatement. Whites will appreciate the validation of Durham, the shock jock who usually likes nothing more than taking a controversial stance and winding up supporters of the major clubs.
