Aston Villa would be a “perfect fit” for Tammy Abraham and he could take them to the next level, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer was left very excited by the prospect of the former Villa loanee lining up alongside Ollie Watkins next season.
Abraham, 23, was left out of Chelsea’s matchday squad against Manchester United at the weekend despite being fully fit.
The Daily Star report Villa are still big admirers of the striker whose 25 goals fired the club to the Premier League in the 2018/19 season and could be a destination if he decides to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.
“I can see why he would be disappointed [to be left out of Chelsea’s squad],” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He’s probably thinking to himself ‘This is not the right time to not be playing because the Euros are coming’.
“He’s not going to make the Euros squad if he’s not scoring goals so I can see his frustration.
“He’ll probably look at it and thinking ‘maybe I do need a move in the summer and play regularly.’
“Tuchel has got Giroud, Werner and Abraham. He’s probably going to want to bring his own striker in anyway.
“Somewhere like Villa would be a perfect fit. Everybody knows him there, the manager likes him.
“It would take Villa to the next level as well – having two top strikers. Most teams will have one top striker but Villa will have Abraham and Watkins which would be perfect.
“You can play them together, Watkins could drift to the left. There are different ways they can play.
“I’m sure Dean Smith would love to have him.”
