Agbonlahor: Aston Villa have 'perfect' Cash replacement at Bodymoor Heath after confirmed news
Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Kaine Kesler Hayden to make an impact on the Aston Villa first-team this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed Kesler would be “perfect” if anything was to happen to Matty Cash.
Villa confirmed on Sunday (9 January) he had been recalled by the club after a successful loan spell with League Two club Swindon Town.
Birmingham Live reported on Wednesday (12 January) Steven Gerrard made the call just hours after watching Kesler’s final appearance for Swindon as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Premier League champions Man City.
Asked whether the 19-year-old can make an impact on the senior side between now and the end of the season, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think he will.
“With the covid situation, Steven Gerrard will be thinking ‘You know what, I’d rather have a big squad than let people go out on loan’.

“You don’t know how the season can go. For all we know, players could get covid and we can be down to the bare bones.
“If Matty Cash got Covid, you’ve got a perfect replacement in Kesler. He’s young, very energetic, very quick.
“He’s still got a lot to work on with final balls and distribution but that’s what Gerrard can help him with in training.
“I do see him as Villa’s number two right-back and he can push Matty Cash.
“I watched him against Man City and he did very well.”
Kesler’s only first-team apperance for Villa came in the FA Cup last season when a side made up of youth team players lost 4-1 to Liverpool due to a covid outbreak in the first team bubble.
The England youth international played 21 times on loan at Swindon.
In other news, Aston Villa have agreed a third January signing.
