Agbonlahor blown away by Rangers after official Ibrox news
Gabby Agbonlahor has heaped praise on Rangers after they banned a set of supporters for life for racially abusing Kyogo Furuhashi.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted the club had no choice but to come down hard on the fans.
A video emerged on social media over the weekend of Rangers fans racially abusing Celtic star Kyogo.
The Gers moved swiftly to ban those identified in the video “indefinitely”, as revealed in a club statement on August 23.
Celtic boss Ange Postecolgou insisted, via BBC Sport today (25 August), Rangers have “done the right thing”.
The Ibrox giants have also banned the RSC that those identified were members of and had travelled with to their win over Ross County on Sunday 22 August.
Postecoglou also revealed he hopes the abuse has not tarnished Kyogo’s time in Glasgow.
The Japan international, 26, has been a revelation for the Hoops since his arrival from Vissel Kobe over the summer.
Asked for his assessment of Rangers’ response, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “They had to.
“There’s no room from racism at all. That is great from Rangers to do that. They should be banned for life those fans because there’s no need for it.
“Players can take abuse, but it can’t be racial abuse. That’s where it becomes unacceptable.”

Kyogo is set for his first Old Firm derby this weekend as Celtic travel to Ibrox on Sunday.
The two clubs are level on six points after playing three Scottish Premiership games.
