Agbonlahor can't believe Rangers could be about to sign Jack Butland
Jack Butland “can’t catch a cold” and Rangers should not sign him this summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Butland would be a major downgrade on Allan McGregor.
The 40-year-old is out of contract this summer and he looks set to quit Ibrox after being given a farewell appearance off the bench in the Scottish Cup final earlier this month (21 May).
The Sun reported on Sunday (29 May) that Rangers have shortlisted Butland, 29, whose Crystal Palace future is uncertain.
Football Insider reported earlier this month (27 May) that Palace are set to compete the signing of Sam Johnstone on a free transfer.
That will push Butland further down the pecking order but Agbonlahor has urged Rangers not to make a move.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Butland can’t catch a cold.
“I’m not sure about him at all. Over the years he’s made blunders while in goal. I don’t see that happening at all.
“Even when playing for Palace this season he doesn’t look very good in goal. He’s got a mistake in him.
“I don’t see Rangers going from McGregor to Butland, no way.
“It’s different to Joe Hart. He is a top goalkeeper, that’s why Celtic went for him.
“Butland has underperformed for years. His confidence went, I don’t know whether it was at Stoke.
“He was the next one to come in after Hart but he’s not performed at all.”
Butland was in and out of the Crystal Palace side this season as they finished 12th.
The nine-cap England international kept three clean sheets in 15 games across all competitions, including one in nine Premier League games.
