Agbonlahor can’t believe ‘shocking’ Richarlison twist at Tottenham – ‘he won’t play for the club again’
Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Tottenham forward Richarlison after his “shocking” interview outburst.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old has been “so poor” this term and suggested he will not play under Antonio Conte ever again.
As quoted by Sky Sports (9 March), Richarlison hit out at Conte and Tottenham in an explosive interview following the aggregate loss against Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday (8 March).
The Brazil international insisted it was “not possible to understand” why he had been dropped for the game after two good performances in recent Premier League starts.
He bemoaned his poor communication with Conte and insisted he “wants to play” after “giving his life” in limited minutes this term.
Richarlison cost Spurs a reported fee of £60million last summer (2022) but is yet to score a Premier League goal for the club in 17 appearances.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “He’s got some cheek.
“He has been so poor when he’s been on the pitch this season.
“In the interview, he mentions that he’s had two good games against Chelsea and Wolves. But he’s got no goals, no assists, he didn’t look sharp.
“I don’t know what he thinks a good game is, but when you cost £60million – you need to put up numbers.
“I’m sure he won’t play for Spurs again while Conte is at the club.

“Conte will probably be in shock. I’m not sure he’ll have ever experienced a player coming out like that before, in his whole career.
“I couldn’t believe what I was reading.”
