Agbonlahor can’t believe source’s Mason Mount update at Chelsea – ‘they should cut his wages’

Gabby Agbonlahor can’t believe Mason Mount’s contract demands at Chelsea given his form with the Blues this season.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, believes the 24-year-old needs a “reality check” after his extreme wage demands at Stamford Bridge.

Football Insider sources revealed on Wednesday (15 February) that Mount is demanding parity with top-earning Chelsea stars like Raheem Sterling and Reece James in order to sign a new contract.

Mount currently earns £80,000-a-week on his current contract, but his deal with the club has less than 18 months remaining.

Mount has scored twice and assisted three times in 22 Premier League appearances for the Blues this season.

Liverpool and Juventus are interested in signing the England international should his contract talks remain in a deadlock with Chelsea.

Agbonlahor criticised Mount for his contract demands and insisted he should actually have his wages decreased due to his poor form this season.

This season Mason Mount has not done anywhere near enough to demand that kind of money,” he told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury.

He should be having a wage decrease rather than an increase.

“He has not done enough for me and when Graham Potter plays his best side at Chelsea, Mason Mount isn’t in it.

I feel he needs a reality check to be honest.

He’s not as good as he thinks and he’s not a guaranteed starter at Chelsea so he can’t be making silly demands.

“I’d let him go on a free when his contract expires.”
