Agbonlahor 'can't believe' Tottenham manager update after new Pochettino talks
Mauricio Pochettino would be “silly” to quit Paris Saint-Germain and return to Tottenham, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward admitted he was “baffled” that Spurs are yet to appoint Jose Mourinho’s successor.
Football Insider understands Tottenham have been in contact with Pochettino about luring him back to the capital but an agreement is some way off.
A Spurs source has said new talks have been held over the last 24 hours but the Argentine will need to have to go public with his desire to leave for PSG to be willing to let him go.
Pochettino was sacked by Tottenham 18 months ago and only took over at PSG at the beginning of the year.
“I can’t believe it, to be honest,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“The way he left and then took over at PSG, I don’t see him wanting to give up that job at PSG to come back to Spurs who may lose Harry Kane. It just doesn’t make sense, to be honest.
“What Spurs wanted to achieve, they didn’t achieve under Pochettino. Sometimes you have to move on.
“Maybe a manager comes back in the future like we saw with Mourinho at Chelsea. But to come back after 18 months, it doesn’t make sense.
“I just can’t see it happening to be honest. He’d be silly to leave a club like PSG to come to Spurs where the squad is in a lot of trouble.
“They need a manager in now looking for players and sorting out that squad. It baffles me how this isn’t sorted already. The season starts in just over two months. It’s strange.”
Pochettino spent five years at Spurs and guided them to two second-place finishes in the Premier League and a Champions League final.
However, he did not deliver the club a trophy and the last trophy they won remains the 2008 Carling Cup.
