Agbonlahor can't believe 'unfortunate' Heung-min Son development
Gabby Agbonlahor has questioned why Heung-min Son was not included in the 2021-22 PFA team of the year after his fine season for Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted he could not understand why Son’s fellow professional’s didn’t vote for him.
The 29-year-old enjoyed his best season in the Premier League with 23 non-penalty goals and nine assists in 35 top-flight games.
He won the golden boot alongside Mohamed Salah who also found the net on 23 occasions, with five of those goals coming from the penalty spot.
Salah was included in the PFA team of the year in a front three alongside Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane and Man United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Some players who picked their team just forgot about Son,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley

“I don’t know why because if they sat down and thought about it properly, they would have all picked Son.
“Because Liverpool and Man City were on top of the league they were just thinking about their players and forget players from other clubs.
“I wouldn’t have forgotten about Son. It’s unfortunate but maybe the thoughts of ‘Has he won anything this season?’ go into it.
“It’s just a case of players forgetting, it’s easily done.”
Son now has 131 goals and 71 assists in 323 games across all competitions for Spurs but he is yet to win a major trophy with the club.
He signed a new contract with the club last summer (2021) that will keep him in north London until 2025.
