Agbonlahor cites Crysencio Summerville as two Leeds United stars lambasted

Crysencio Summerville has had to step up for Leeds United because Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford are not contributing enough, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England heaped praise on Summerville and insisted his emergence is “promising” for Leeds.

The 21-year-old has scored three goals in his last three Premier League games including late winners in their previous two fixtures.

He scored Leeds’ fourth goal in their 4-3 win over Bournemouth last weekend (5 November) in the 84th minute and a stoppage-time winning strike against Liverpool at Anfield last month (29 October).

Rodrigo also has three goals in his last three games including a penalty in the win over the Cherries and a tap-in gifted to him by Joe Gomez against Liverpool.

Bamford has not scored in 10 Premier League appearances this season and missed the game with Bournemouth due to injury.

“Summerville has done very well,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Whenever I’ve seen him, he looks quick, he looks direct, he looks like he wants to impress and is hungry.

“That’s what you need sometimes. When attackers like Rodrigo are not setting the world alight and Bamford is not doing anything you need young players to come in and get the business done.

“That’s what is happening for Leeds and it’s promising for them.”

Summerville moved to Leeds from Feyenoord in the summer of 2020.

He took over the number 10 shirt from Raphinha this season and signed a new five-year contract with the Yorkshire giants in the summer.

In other news, Liverpool chiefs have been left “appalled” by a Leeds United man’s “diabolical” behaviour.
