Agbonlahor cites Declan Rice after unexpected Man United star development
Harry Maguire will always be in the England squad even if he is out of form and not playing regularly for Man United, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed players like Maguire, Declan Rice, Jordan Henderson, Jordan Pickford and Mason Mount are untouchables for Gareth Southgate.
Maguire has not started a Premier League game for Man United since they lost their 4-0 defeat to Brentford last month (13 August).
Despite being axed by Erik ten Hag, the 29-year-old has surprisingly retained his place in the England line-up and he started the 1-0 defeat to Italy on Friday night (23 September).
The Man United skipper told talkSPORT on Saturday (24 September) that he was not worried about his form and ready for his next opportunity.
“For me, there is a core of England players who are always going to be in the squad, no matter their form, no matter on missing out on playing time,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Harry Maguire is going to be one of those players. Declan Rice is. Jordan Henderson and Jordan Pickford too. Even Mason Mount.
“These players, even if they are not in the best form at their clubs, they perform for England.
“I’ve got no problem with Harry Maguire getting picked.”

Maguire earned his 47th England cap during the defeat to Italy that confirmed their relegation from Nations League League A.
He played five times as the Three Lions reached the final of the Euros last summer and his performances earned him a place in the team of the tournament.
