Agbonlahor: Cristiano Ronaldo should be banned after official statement - Man United news

Cristiano Ronaldo should be banned for Man United after being charged by the FA, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Ronaldo’s actions against a young Everton fan earlier this year were “ridiculous”.

The 37-year-old snatched a 14-year-old Everton fan’s phone out of his hand at the end of Man United’s 1-0 loss at Goodison Park in April.

A police investigation ended with Ronaldo being issued a caution but things were not taken further.

The FA confirmed last week (23 September) that the forward has now been hit with a charge for “improper and/or violent” conduct.

Man United released a statement of their own on the same day in response insisting they will be supporting their player

They are next in action on Sunday (2 October) when they travel to the Etihad for the Manchester derby with Man City.

Agbonlahor has claimed that he should not be available for the game as a result of the charge.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It was a bit ridiculous.

“Ronaldo, you can’t take a fan’s phone like that, it’s not on.

“I feel he should get a ban. I feel like a fine doesn’t matter to someone like Ronaldo, it’s not an issue.

“He’ll learn from that and know that he won’t be able to do it again.”

Ronaldo has not started a Premier League game for United this season since the 4-0 defeat to Brentford last month (13 August).

The Portugal captain has found the net just once in eight domestic games across all competitions this season.
