Gabriel Agbonlahor is excited to see Aston Villa youngster Jacob Ramsey around the first team after he signed a new contract.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer suggested the 19-year-old has been “flying” in training and that is why he was introduced from the bench ahead of January signing Morgan Sanson in Villa’s 1-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend.
Ramsey made his Premier League debut earlier this season and has now featured in eight top-flight games following his 12-minute cameo on Saturday.

He then put pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him at Villa Park until the summer of 2025.
Asked why Ramsey was picked ahead of Sanson against Arsenal, Agbonalhor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “We don’t know what happens in training.
“Managers pick who comes off the bench first from what they’ve done in training. Maybe Jacob Ramsey has been flying in training and Dean Smith thought it was perfect to bring him on for a few minutes.
“With Sanson, I think he’s a player they’re going to introduce bit by bit because it’s always hard to break into a side doing so well.
“I’m sure before the end of the season we will see a lot of football from Sanson, so he’s just got to bide his time a little bit.
“We don’t know what his fitness levels are like either, I’m sure in time we’ll see Sanson.
“It’s good to see Jacob Ramsey in and around it, he could’ve been sent on loan but he’s still there in and around the first team.”
