Agbonlahor delivers verdict on Aston Villa completing last-ditch Jones deal
Aston Villa are well stocked in midfield and should not make a move for Curtis Jones, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed Carney Chukwuemeka is “the one” who should be given more of an opportunity in midfield.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported on 28 August Aston Villa hold a “big” interest in Jones who he compared to Jack Grealish.
A bid of just £15million is reportedly being readied by the Midlands club.
The Liverpool academy graduate is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2025.
Jones, 20, has not featured for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season and has only made one Premier League matchday squad.

Last season, he scored four times and contributed five assists in 34 games across all competitions for the Reds.
“I don’t see someone like him coming into Villa, to be honest, even though he’s one the fans are crying out for,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Aston Villa have got a good amount of players already in that position.
“Chukwuemeka, I would rather see him be given a chance than bring in someone like Curtis Jones.
“The Villa fans would expect a midfielder, that’s what Aston Villa fans are crying out for. So maybe they will try and get that one over the line.
“If not, I’m sure Dean Smith will be happy with what he’s got.”
Jones’ 47 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool have yielded seven goals and six assists.
He also has six England Under-21 caps to his name but is yet to make his senior bow.
