Agbonlahor digs at invisible Traore after alarming Aston Villa reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has called on Bertrand Traore to show more consistency at Aston Villa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted the winger has all the tools to be a success at Villa Park.

Traore scored his seventh Aston Villa goal with a stunning strike in Villa’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.

However, the 25-year-old backed it up with an invisible display in their drab 0-0 draw with Everton.

He lost possession a whopping 13 times, the joint-most of any Villa player, and did not put in any crosses, according to sofascore.

Traore also touched the ball fewer times and made fewer passes than goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Dean Smith replaced the winger with Jack Grealish after 72 minutes as Villa chased a later winner.

“He looked very good against Manchester United,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“His goal was very good and he was moving around the pitch.

“You just want to see more consistency, can he do it again? That’s what Villa fans want to see.

“Can he go and do it against Crystal Palace? That’s what Villa fans want to see from himself and El Ghazi.

“If he can, then he’s got the tools.”

Traore moved to Aston Villa from Ligue 1 side Lyon last summer for a reported £17million fee.

The Burkina Faso international’s 33 Premier League appearances have yielded six goals and five assists.

Villa have three Premier League games left to play this season and could secure their first top-half finish in a decade.
