Agbonlahor digs at Jimenez after embarrassing Wolves reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has admitted he is worried Raul Jimenez may not return to his best form for Wolves.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England star claimed Bruno Lage should stop being so reliant on Jimenez who has not missed a minute of Premier League action this term.

The Mexico international is yet to find the net since returning to action after suffering a fractured skull against Arsenal last year.

According to FBRef, Jimenez has hit the target with just one of his 14 shots this season.

His 7.1 per cent shot accuracy is the lowest of any player to take a shot in this season’s Premier League.

Moreover, along with Wolves teammate Adama Traore and Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe, he has taken the most shots without scoring this term.

“It’s going to take Jimenez time with what he’s been through but he doesn’t look like the player he was before,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He needs a bit of time. Sometimes, Lage might have to say ‘You know what take this game off and come on for 20 minutes’. Don’t just leave him on for the full 90 minutes every game.

“Trincao is another one that hasn’t really done it yet. It’s worrying times for Wolves and I’m sure Wolves fans are worrying.

“They might have won against Watford, but the way they are playing is very poor.”

Before this season, Jimenez had scored 34 times and contributed 14 assists in 86 Premier League games for Wolves.

The 30-year-old is under contract at Molineux until the summer of 2024.
