Agbonlahor: ‘Embarrassing’ Emerson Royal should never play for Tottenham again as ‘disgraceful’ footage emerges

Emerson Royal has a “trampoline foot” and should not play for Tottenham again, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Emerson’s “embarrassing” and “disgraceful” failed no-look pass in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Sporting in the Champions League last week (26 October).

With Spurs on the attack, the 28-year-old tried to play Bryan Gil in behind the Sporting defence only for his pass to go out of play for a goal kick.

On the sidelines, Antonio Conte pointed to his head as he urged the full-back to think before passing.

“He’s got a trampoline foot,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“To be giving it the eyes when you cannot even pass when your eyes are on the ball is a disgrace.

“If I was the manager, I’d have never played him again. I would have taken him off and never played him again. It was the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen.

“There are only a few Premier League players that have got the right to be doing a no-look pass. A Christian Eriksen, a Bruno Fernandes, those sorts of players. Not Emerson Royal.

“I don’t understand what he does well. He can’t defend well, he can’t attack well, and he’s not good on the ball.

“He’s not a defender who should be playing in a team who are trying to get into the top-four and playing Champions League football.”

Emerson has had an October to forget after being sent off in Tottenham’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League earlier this month (1 October).

After serving a three-game ban, the Brazilian won his place back in the side immediately.

In other news, an ex-Premier League referee has demanded an extended ban for Conte after a “big” Tottenham twist.
