Agbonlahor eviscerates '£200,000-a-week' Chelsea star as explosive Todd Boehly rant revealed
Gabby Agbonlahor has defended Chelsea owner Todd Boehly after details of his explosive post-match dressing room rants became public.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, took aim at the Blues players – claiming they “deserve” criticism for their dismal displays.
As revealed by The Times in the aftermath of Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton (17 April), Boehly went into the Stamford Bridge dressing room and slammed his players, describing their form as “embarrassing”.
The report claims the American asked his players why they are not performing in accordance to their big-money transfer fees and lofty reputations.
Boehly himself has come under criticism from fans in recent weeks, with Chelsea losing five of their last six games.
Interim boss Frank Lampard defended the 49-year-old owner, claiming his outbursts were a demonstration of his passion for the club.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I don’t think I would like it as a player.
“But if I was playing that badly, and I couldn’t put the ball in the net when I’m on £200,000-a-week – I wouldn’t have anything to say about it.
“I think they deserve it.
“You’ve got to look at it from Boehly’s perspective. He’s pumped millions into transfer fees, wages – and the players aren’t performing.
“You can’t blame Boehly. Anyone with a big investment would do the same.
“It’s not ideal for Chelsea but it’s clear that the frustration is creeping through.”
