Fraser may be frozen out at Newcastle amid 'downed tools' claim - pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Eddie Howe could freeze out Ryan Fraser at Newcastle United after he “downed tools” at Bournemouth.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Howe could hold a grudge over how Fraser engineered his move from the Cherries to Newcastle.
The Scotland international was out of contract with Bournemouth at the end of June 2020.
He refused to sign a short-term extension to cover the period when the 2019-20 season restarted after it was interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Bournemouth eventually got relegated and Howe left the club while Fraser signed for Newcastle.
Callum Wilson signed on the same day and the pair had built an instinctive relationship on the south coast.

The pair combined for 12 Premier League goals in the 2018-19 campaign as Bournemouth finished 14th.
Asked whether they can rekindle that relationship under Howe, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It depends how stubborn Howe is, because managers can be stubborn.
“You saw what he did when Eddie Howe was at Bournemouth, he downed tools for a move and left them in the lurch.
“You never know, Eddie Howe could look at that and go ‘You know, you’re not playing under me’.
“Or, he could forgive him and give him a chance. It all depends how stubborn he wants to be.”
As well as Fraser and Wilson, Matt Ritchie played under Howe at Dean Court before moving to Newcastle United.
Wilson has scored 16 goals in 35 games across all competitions for the Magpies while Fraser has only scored once and provided three assists in 30 appearances for the club.
