Agbonlahor: Future bleak for Traore and Wolves teammate after development

There is no room for Daniel Podence and Adama Traore in the Wolves starting XI now Raul Jimenez, Hwang Hee-Chan and Francisco Trincao have “clicked”.

That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and England attacker Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “exciting” front three.

Jimenez, Hwang and Trincao started in the 2-1 win over Everton on Monday night for the first time since the beginning of October.

After a slow start, Jimenez has now scored twice and provided two assists in his last three Premier League games.

Hwang has four goals in seven top-flight appearances this term but Trincao has not chipped in with a goal contribution in the league yet.

“There are formations and there are ways to play it,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Wolves, against Everton, played a 5-2-3. The two wingers and Jimenez interchanged positions.

“It was like they were told ‘You three attackers go and do whatever you’re doing, interchange positions’. It’s exciting.

“It comes down to personnel, you can play that formation and if the 5-2-3 and if the three attackers aren’t doing it, you’ll blame the formation. Sometimes formations are the reason, sometimes it’s personnel.

“But Wolves attacking three have now clicked. There’s no room for Traore, there’s no room for Podence.”

Hwang and Trincao are both on loan this season but Wolves have an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

They can sign Trincao for £25million from Barcelona and will have to pay RB Leipzig around £13million for Hwang.
