Agbonlahor: ‘Gerrard will not be happy’ with Morelos latest and will give him dressing down
Steven Gerrard will have a stern word with Alfredo Morelos at Rangers after his revealing interview with a Colombian radio station.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England striker called on Morelos to leave talk of an Ibrox exit to the end of the season and behind closed doors.
The 24-year-old told Caracol that his biggest dream was to move down south and play in the English Premier League.
It comes just days before Rangers’ biggest game of the season as they prepare to host Slavia Prague in the second-leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie.
The tie is finely balanced after the 1-1 draw in Prague last week and Morelos will be looking to add to his five Europa League goals this season.
Asked how the club will react to Morelos’ public admission, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think Steven Gerrard will not appreciate that.
“I’m sure Steven Gerrard would rather he would not speak about that until the season is done.
“I’m sure he won’t be too happy with that and he’ll be speaking to him about that telling him not to speak about that until the end of the season when you do it behind closed doors.”
Morelos has long been linked with a move away but is under contract at Ibrox until the summer of 2023.
He’s scored 15 goals across all competitions this season and has provided 12 assists – including six across the two legs of Rangers’ Europa League Round of 32 victory over Royal Antwerp.
