Agbonlahor: Giovanni van Bronckhorst guilty of two ‘sackable offences’ after Rangers boardroom reveal

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has already committed two “sackable offences” at Rangers, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Van Bronckhorst is under real pressure at Rangers but there is a lack of candidates to replace him.

His side were booed off during a 1-1 draw with Livingston at the weekend (22 October) and followed it up with a 3-0 away defeat to Napoli on Wednesday (26 October).

Rangers

Sources told Football Insider last month (15 September) that the 47-year-old was under real pressure from the board due to results and performances.

Performances have not improved since then and the club have slipped to four points behind Celtic in the league..

Asked whether Van Bronckhorst‘s job is in real threat, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think it is.

“But you’ve got to think about who is going t take it before you think about Van Bronckhorst getting the sack.

“He has to do better. Rangers fans have been treated to the Europa League final and winning the league in the last two seasons.

“Now they are looking like they’re going to keep dropping points and not win the league plus they won’t be in Europe.

“The levels that Rangers have set, they should be looking to sack Van Bronckhorst. You want to keep that level and that expectation at the club.

“Their performance in the derby against Celtic and their performance in the 7-1 loss to Liverpool are both, in themselves, sackable offences, to be honest.

Rangers

“A new manager comes in and would need to start catching Celtic.

“I don’t see Gerrard coming back with the way that he left. Fans will see it as him jumping at the first decent job he got, you can’t just come back when it doesn’t work out. I can’t see that happening.”

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed that Kyle Fox could “take control” of Rangers as a £25million-plus deal on cards.
